Shri guru charan saroj raj, nij manu mukuru sudhari।
Baranau raghubar bimal jasu, jo dayaku phal chari॥
With the dust of my Guru's lotus feet, I cleanse the mirror of my mind.
I then narrate the divine glory of Shri Ram, the supreme among the Raghus, which bestows the four fruits of life.
Buddhiheen tanu janike, sumirau pavan-kumar।
Bal buddhi vidya dehu mohi, harahu kalesh vikaar॥
Knowing myself to be ignorant, I remember you, O son of the wind god.
Please grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my sorrows and shortcomings.

Jai Hanuman gyan gun sagar।
Jai kapis tihun lok ujagar॥1॥
Victory to Hanuman, the ocean of knowledge and virtue.
Victory to the lord of the monkeys, who illuminates the three worlds.
Ram doot atulit bal dhama।
Anjani-putra pavansut nama॥2॥
You are the messenger of Ram and the repository of incomparable power.
You are known as the son of Anjani and the son of the wind god (Pavan).
Mahabir bikram Bajrangi।
Kumati nivar sumati ke sangi॥3॥
You are the great hero, mighty and possessed of a body as strong as a thunderbolt (Vajra).
You are the dispeller of evil intellect and the companion of good sense and wisdom.
Kanchan baran biraj subesa।
Kanan kundal kunchit kesa॥4॥
Your complexion is golden and your attire is splendid.
You wear earrings and have beautiful, curly hair.
Haath bajra au dhvaja biraje।
Kaandhe moonj janehu sajai॥5॥
In your hands, you hold a lightning bolt (mace) and a victory flag.
A sacred thread of Munja grass adorns your shoulder.
Sankar suvan kesari nandan।
Tej pratap maha jag bandan॥6॥
You are the incarnation of Lord Shiva and the beloved son of Kesari.
Your magnificence and glory are great and revered throughout the world.
Vidyavan guni ati chatur।
Ram kaj karibe ko aatur॥7॥
You are supremely knowledgeable, virtuous, and clever.
You are ever eager to carry out Lord Ram's tasks.
Prabhu charitra sunibe ko rasiya।
Ram Lakhan Sita man basiya॥8॥
You delight in listening to the glories of Lord Ram.
You dwell in the hearts of Ram, Lakshman, and Sita.
Sukshma roop dhari siyahi dikhava।
Vikat roop dhari lanka jarava॥9॥
You assumed a minute form to appear before Sita.
You assumed a terrifying form to burn Lanka.

You brought the Sanjivani herb and revived Lakshman.
Lord Ram, overwhelmed with joy, embraced you.
Raghupati kinhi bahut badai।
Tum mam priya Bharat hi sam bhai॥12॥
The Lord of the Raghus (Ram) praised you greatly.
Saying, "You are as dear to me as my brother Bharat."
Sahas badan tumharo yash gaave।
Us kahi Shripati kanth lagaave॥13॥
"The thousand-hooded serpent Shesha sings your glories."
Saying this, Lord Ram drew you close to his heart.

Narad sarad sahit ahisa॥14॥
Sanak and the sages, Brahma and the great hermits,
Narada, Saraswati, and the king of serpents (Shesha)...
Jam kuber digpal jahan te।
Kavi kovid kahi sake kahan te॥15॥
Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the directions,
Poets and scholars – none can express your glory.
Tum upkar Sugreevahin keenha।
Ram milaye rajpad deenha॥16॥
You did a great favor for Sugriva,
Introducing him to Lord Ram and bestowing the kingdom upon him.
Tumharo mantra Vibhishan mana।
Lankeshwar bhaye sab jag jana॥17॥
Vibhishana heeded your advice,
And became the king of Lanka, as the whole world knows.
Yug sahastra yojan par bhanu।
Leelyo tahi madhur phal janu॥18॥
You swallowed the sun, thinking it to be a sweet fruit,
Though it is a thousand yojanas away (a yug-sahastra-yojan).
Prabhu mudrika meli mukh maahi।
Jaladhi langhi gaye achraj naahi॥19॥
Holding the Lord's ring in your mouth,
You leaped across the ocean – there is no wonder in that for you.
Durgam kaj jagat ke jete।
Sugam anugraha tumhre tete॥20॥
All the difficult tasks in this world
Become easy with your grace.
Ram duware tum rakhvare।
Hoat na agya binu paisare॥21॥
You are the guardian at Lord Ram's door.
No one can enter without your permission.
Sab sukh lahai tumhari sarna।
Tum rakshak kahu ko darna॥22॥
All bliss is found in your refuge.
With you as a protector, there is no fear.
Aapan tej samharo aapai।
Teenhon lok hank te kanpai॥23॥
You alone can control your own power.
All three worlds tremble at your roar.
Bhoot pishach nikat nahin aavai।
Mahavir jab naam sunavai॥24॥
Ghosts and evil spirits do not come near,
When one utters the name of Mahavir (Hanuman).
Nase rog harai sab peera।
Japat nirantar Hanumat beera॥25॥
Diseases are destroyed and all pain is removed,
By constantly chanting the name of the brave Hanuman.

Sankat se Hanuman chudavai।
Man kram vachan dhyan jo lavai॥26॥
Hanuman liberates from all crises,
Those who meditate upon him in thought, word, and deed.
Sab par Ram tapasvee raja।
Tin ke kaj sakal Tum saja॥27॥
Ram is the ascetic king who rules all.
You swiftly organize all his tasks.
Aur manorath jo koi lavai。
Soi amit jeevan phal pavai॥28॥
And whoever comes to you with any wish,
That person obtains the limitless fruit of life.
Charon jug partap tumhara।
Hai parsiddh jagat ujiyara॥29॥
Your glory fills all four ages (Yugas).
Your fame is radiant throughout the world.
Sadhu sant ke tum rakhware।
Asur nikandan Ram dulare॥30॥
You are the guardian of saints and sages.
You are the destroyer of demons and the beloved of Ram.
Asht siddhi nav nidhi ke data।
As bar din Janki mata॥31॥
You are the bestower of the eight Siddhis (supernatural powers) and the nine Nidhis (divine treasures).
You were granted this boon by Mother Janki (Sita).
Ram rasayan tumhare pasa।
Sada raho Raghupati ke dasa॥32॥
You hold the essence of devotion to Ram.
May you always remain the servant of Raghupati (Ram).
Tumhare bhajan Ram ko pavai।
Janam janam ke dukh bisravai॥33॥
Through your worship, one finds Ram.
And is released from the sorrows of countless lifetimes.
Anta kaal Raghuvir pur jayee।
Jahan janam Hari-bhakta kahayee॥34॥
At the end of life, one goes to the abode of Raghuvir (Ram),
And is known as a devotee of the Lord in that birth.
Aur devata chitt na dharai।
Hanumat sei sarve sukh karai॥35॥
Even without fixating on other deities,
Worshipping Hanuman alone bestows all happiness.
Sankat kate mite sab peera।
Jo sumirai Hanumat balbeera॥36॥
All crises are eliminated and all pain is removed,
For whoever remembers the mighty hero Hanuman.
Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gosai।
Kripa karahu gurudev ki naai॥37॥
Victory, Victory, Victory to Lord Hanuman!
Bestow your grace on me, as my Guru.
Jo sat bar path kar koi।
Chutahi bandi maha sukh hoi॥38॥
Whoever recites this Chalisa a hundred times,
Is freed from bondage and attains great bliss.
Jo yah padhe Hanuman Chalisa।
Hoye siddhi sakhi Gaurisa॥39॥
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa,
Attains accomplishment (Siddhi), as Lord Shiva is the witness.
Tulsidas sada hari chera।
Keejai nath hriday mahn dera॥40॥
Tulsidas, who is always a servant of Lord Hari,
Prays, "O Lord, please reside in my heart."
